Altar Linens
Volunteers help maintain a clean supply of altar linens and towels along with miscellaneous linens.
What does it involve?
Ministers pick up soiled linens, launder and iron the items and return the clean linens to the church.
Who should participate?
Any man or woman who can launder and neatly iron the linens.
Altar Servers
Servers assist Priests in the celebration of the Liturgy by carrying the cross and processional candles, holding the book for the Priest, and assisting with the presentation of the bread, wine and water and other duties.
What does it involve?
Servers are scheduled for weekend liturgies as well as weddings, funerals and daily Masses.
Who should participate?
Male and females parishioners grade six through high school. Training is provided.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Offers Kindergarten to third grade children the opportunity to hear God’s Word proclaimed and adapted to their age group at the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday.
What does it involve?
Leaders and co-leaders are needed to proclaim the readings, responsorial psalm, alleluia, Gospel and lead the reflection and prayers. Training is provided.
Who should participate?
Participants - children from Kindergarten to third grade.
Leaders – adults willing to be trained as leaders and co-leaders.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
The Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion serves the worshipping community and the homebound by distributing Holy Communion.
Who should participate?
Open to all practicing Catholics who are at least 18 years of age and in good standing with the Church. Anyone fulfilling these requirements may submit their name to the Pastor. Through a discernment process of prayer, each year new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will be chosen. Training is provided by the Parish and the Archdiocese.
Lectors
Ministers of God’s Word deliver the two readings before the Gospel at daily Mass, weekend Masses and on other important occasions.
What does it involve?
Lectors prepare for the readings ahead of time and should arrive ten minutes prior to Mass. Preference forms are provided to Lectors for scheduling purposes.
Who should participate?
Anyone from high school age and older who has a strong voice, clear pronunciation and a desire to convey the Word of God.
Liturgical Art and Environment Committee
Work with the Director of Liturgy and the Liturgy Committee to design, create and maintain an environment for worship in the church.
What does it involve?
Developing and executing ideas for decorating the church – particularly during the Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons.
Who should participate?
Anyone interested in enhancing our liturgical environment.
Liturgy Committee
This committee meets and assists in planning, coordinating and supporting elements of Liturgy to enhance the Liturgical life of the parish community. This year the committee is working with Reverend Patrick Welsh on the purpose of the Liturgy Committee.
What does it involve?
The team meets monthly from September to May.
Who should participate?
Anyone who is open to learning more about liturgy.
Ministers of Hospitality
This ministry directs people to seats available in the church along with overseeing the procession of the gifts, collections, facilitating the communion procession, distributing the bulletins and handling any emergencies that may occur during Mass.
What does it involve?
Being present at Mass and assisting where needed.
Who should participate?
Parishioners who enjoy greeting other people and making them feel welcome.
